bitcartel is the core contributor and main maintainer of the Scash project — an experimental cryptocurrency launched in February 2024. Scash is a fork of Bitcoin Core, integrating Monero’s RandomX proof-of-work (PoW) algorithm to enable ASIC-resistant mining on ordinary home computers. The design aims to revive Satoshi Nakamoto’s original vision of decentralized and accessible mining, addressing the centralization caused by Bitcoin’s SHA-256 PoW being dominated by specialized hardware. A few weeks after Scash’s creation, bitcartel transferred project operations to the community, implementing principles of autonomy and decentralized governance. Although no longer managing Scash directly, bitcartel continues to share ideas and insights about the project through Twitter (X) and Discord, supporting its community-driven evolution.
